I am very seriously involved with {GoodReads}. In August, I set a goal of 20 books to read between then and the end of 2012. I am proud to say I reached my goal and am currently on book #22!
My reading strategy was to switch it up: I alternated between serious and silly books. The last book I read was I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This, which I counted as serious given the subject matter about women in business. You can read my review of the book {here}.
It was time for a lighter read. I picked up Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling from The Office. I heard excellent reviews for this book and since Mindy is a comedy writer, I figured the book was bound to make me laugh.
To say I was in stitches was an understatement.
I do not really follow celebrities or have a Hollywood crush. However, within the first chapter, I developed a full blown girl crush on Mindy Kaling.
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? is a quick read, I finished it en route home for Christmas. The book was a perfect distraction from holiday traveling and a crowded airport. From a chubby childhood to breaking into the entertainment biz, Mindy keeps you laughing and cheering for her the entire journey. The laughs are also coupled with moments of clarity that make you stop and think.
If you are looking for a lighthearted book to de-stress from the holidays, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? plus {Spiked Eggnog} guarantees a ho-ho-ho!
