After adding two Caudalie skincare products into my routine for the past few months, I’ve seen major improvements in my skin texture and uneven complexion. I mentioned over on Instagram about how impressed I was with Caudalie and you all seem to love their products just as much as I do! Keep reading until the end of this post for a round-up of readers’ favorite Caudalie products.
My First Impressions of Caudalie Skincare
What is Caudalie Skincare?
Caudalie is a French skincare brand founded by Mathilde Thomas on her family’s estate. Their mission focuses on providing people with the most natural formulas available while ensuring they will be effective. You can find Caudalie on the shelves at Sephora and Bluemercury.
Paring Down My Skincare Routine
In late winter/early spring, I started noticing my skin was reacting oddly to some skincare products. I tried swapping out products and trying others and the problem persisted. My cheekbone area has always been sensitive and that’s exactly where this issue popped up. I suddenly had small bumps creating a trail from my cheekbones to my temples with redness. The bumps were extremely small and the redness was easily hid under concealer. But I didn’t want them to be there in the first place!
My complexion obviously needed a reset. I went down to the bare minimum of a skincare routine – cleanser, toner, moisturizer. To be clear, my “routine” has never been inordinately extensive (I don’t have the time for that!) and typically takes me maybe 5 minutes. The bumps and redness sort of decreased but were not fully evicted. That is, until I started using Caudalie.
Purchasing Caudalie in France
James and I set off on our honeymoon cruise through the Mediterranean back in May and Cannes was one of our port calls. We had a truly wonderful time strolling around Cannes and taking in its beauty. Of course, croissants were a must for our time ashore! I hadn’t really planned on making many purchases for myself and certainly skincare was the very last thing on my mind in this magical spot.
Then we passed a pharmacy and I had the thought, “Wouldn’t it be funny to pick up one or two Caudalie products while I’m in France?” Caudalie can easily be purchased in the U.S. and I’m very well aware of that. But the idea of purchasing Caudalie when I was in France just tickled me.
I picked out a serum and a mask but I didn’t use them until returning home from our vacation. With my already sensitive skin issues, I was too nervous about having a reaction to them and then ruining all our honeymoon photos for the rest of our trip!
This worry was very much unfounded and these products have earned a well-deserved spot on my side of the bathroom sink.
Resveratrol Lift Instant Firming Retinol Alternative Serum
Phew, is that a mouthful or what? I picked this serum up on a whim and wow am I glad I did.
Resveratrolis an oil-free anti-aging serum that works to firm, lift, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles with a natural alternative to retinol.
I apply this serum (1-2 pumps) nightly to my face, neck, and décolletage after my toner and it has made a huge difference in my complexion. The bumps and redness? Totally gone within a few weeks of using Resveratrol.
The price tag is a bit high but the serum lasts forever. I am still working on my first bottle and I’ve been using it religiously since late May! I’ll likely need to get a new bottle in the next two weeks. The cost per use is definitely worth it!
Pore Minimizing Instant Detox Mask
I love a good face mask on Sundays. It just feels like starting the new week with a fresh start. Caudalie’s Pore Minimizing Instant Detox Mask has become my favorite mask to do to close out the weekend.
This clay mask cleanses and visibly tightens pores that is good for uneven texture, blemishes, and pores. It’s been perfect removing all the excess oil during these hot, sticky, muggy summer days.
I apply the mask and then hang out for 5-10 minutes while the mask does its job. My personal preference for masks is to do them before I hop in the shower, it’s so much easier to wipe the mask off in the shower than getting water all over the bathroom counter.
