Sharing little tidbits of life lately as I get back into blogging!
Hi everyone! Since it’s been awhile since my last post, I thought I’d do a “Life Lately” post to share a few things that I’ve been loving + enjoying during this summer in quarantine!
Wearing: First off, I’ve been living in these white jeans all summer long. They’re my favorite white jeans – actually, they’re jeggings! But I swear they feel like regular jeans and are not see-through at all, I also love how they’re so easy to wash. The other day, I made myself a caprese salad and a rogue tomato got loose, I watched the grape tomato spiral in slow motion and land right on my freshly washed white jeans. After a spin in the washer, these jeans are back to normal!
Wearing: My next favorite summer piece is my Lilly Pulitzer Florin top in Toile Me About It – I love how swingy it is and how perfectly it goes with white jeans for an easy but put together outfit.
Reading: With everything going on, I’ve been taking steps to diversify my reading list. East City Bookshop in Eastern Market gives book recs every Friday over on their Instagram, you give them a genre, author, book, movie, vibe, etc that you enjoy and they’ll give you suggestions. I always look forward to watching their Friday Story and end up adding so many books to my to-read list. I asked for their recommendations for “Southern gothic” literature (think William Faulkner) and they gave me a bunch of suggestions – including Conjure Women. It’s one of the most beautifully written books I’ve read in years, and to sound dramatic, but it’s haunting. Definitely one of those books that will stay with you for years to come.
Eating: Since it’s been surface-of-the-sun hot in DC lately, I’ve been looking for lighter meals that are still filling. Caprese salad bowls have been on repeat for me lately! It’s just arugula, sliced grape tomatoes, sliced fresh mozzarella balls, a roasted veggie, and if I need some extra protein, I’ll add diced chicken. I add a spoonful of Trader Joe’s pesto and a drizzle of balsamic and lunch is ready!
Eating: My other favorite summer dish is this summer ravioli salad! Trader Joe’s Corn, Burrata, and Basil Ravioli are my all-time favorite TJ’s ravioli, I just wish they were sold year-round. You can find them in the prepared foods section. I cook them according to the package instructions and then toss with a little bit of pesto. Then I make an arugula salad with a little bit of shaved parm, homemade lemon vinaigrette (1:1.5: EVVO:Lemon juice) with a dash of salt + pepper, toss to combine. Put the ravioli on top and you’ve got a delicious meal! I always top with some fresh basil ????
It feels SO good to be back updating this blog!! I’ve got a bunch of posts ready to go so I hope you’re as excited as I am!
