Sharing how to style a shirtdress for spring with a cute layer!
Dudley Stephens Brighton Boatneck (Runs TTS, I’m wearing a Medium. I love the boatneck neckline!) // J.Crew Stripe Shirtdress (This is from last season, here’s a similar J.Crew stripe dress for $98. Here’s a more expensive option from Tuckernuck for $168 – more on that below) // J.Crew Factory Block Sandals (These are from a few seasons ago but J.Crew Factory usually brings this style back for summer. Right now they have a similar sandal—with a cute criss cross detail—on sale for $29) // L.L. Bean Medium Tote // J.Crew Tortoiseshell Sunglasses (A more budget-friendly version for $15)
Hi guys! I wasn’t sure really what to do for my first blog post in awhile. It’s such a weird time right now, I’ve been working from home for almost a month. But I’d like my blog + Instagram to be a bright, happy + yes, punny, spot for you all as a little break from everything going on. So here we go with regularly scheduled programming- styling a shirtdress for spring! I promise it’ll look great on your work video conferences ????
How To Style A Shirtdress for Spring
DC weather has been all over the place lately – one day it’s 80 degrees, the next it’s 40. But I’m not complaining since that means I get to wear my Dudley Stephens Brighton Boatneck longer! I was skeptical when I first heard about Dudley Stephens but their fleeces more than live up to the hype.
I picked Brighton Boatneck because I love this classic neckline and also since I wear CC cream nearly every day I was worried about my makeup transferring to their turtlenecks. Now I’ve got my eye on the Brighton in Island Coral and Ice Blue – so so pretty!!
The Brighton runs TTS (I’m a size 8 + wearing a M) and it hits at your hip, making it very figure-flattering.
I layered my Brighton boatneck over my J.Crew shirtdress (styled for warmer weather here).
My shirtdress is from J.Crew last spring season but right now J.Crew has a similar stripe dress for $98. Tuckernuck this season released a blue + white stripe version of my absolute favorite white shirtdress. It’s pricier ($168) but I promise you it’s an amazing investment piece for your wardrobe. I wear my white shirtdress all summer long – at work with a blazer and on weekends (one of my all-time favorite outfit posts here!!). I’ve been eyeing up the Tuckernuck stripe shirtdress because I love the style that much!
In normal times, I’d wear this outfit on the weekend for brunch with friends but for right now, I’ll wear it while I stay at home for FaceTime brunch ????
