Getting in the Christmas Spirit

Let me tell you, readers that I absolutely cannot wait until next Monday evening when all that’s left between me and my winter break is one take home exam. Until then, I will be sitting in front of my computer writing papers & studying like a madwoman. With all this stress and negativity, it’s easy to lose sight of the big picture. Guilty as charged. However, thanks to my lovely iCal, I’ve been informed that Christmas Eve is a mere seventeen days away!!! You could’ve knocked me over with a leaf when I saw that. I’ve been so wrapped up in finals, December 24th seemed like an eternity away.

How can you fight the blue book blues & the woe of group presentations while getting into the spirit of Christmas? It’s easy!

Pandora

Although I’ve had mixed feelings about Pandora and am more of a Grooveshark gal, I do turn to my Mariah Carey Christmas Pandora station at this time of the year. You really cannot remain in a Grinch-like mood because of an exam while listening to Christmas music. It’s a scientific fact! Not really, but just go with it, people! I’m one of those people who like to listen to music as they write to get into a beat and what better way to kill 2 birds with 1 stone than rock out to the Nutcracker as you write your monumental research paper?

Marshmallows for Toasting by Philosophy

I love body wash and I received a bottle of “Marshmallows for Toasting” body wash & bubble bath for my birthday last month. It actually does smell like marshmallows but isn’t too overpowering of a scent. After a stressful day of studying, it’s great to take a hot shower and relax with this body wash. It’s relaxing, soothing and reminds me of the Christmas season! It’s a win-win. Philosophy also has other delectable Christmas scents such as egg nog and gingerbread.

Childhood Christmas Specials

I grew up in a family that always watches “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” claymation movie every time it’s on during the Christmas season. I’ve seen it a million times and each time, it puts a smile on my face & warms my heart. The good things about these Christmas specials are that they usually are not very long in length and can be found on Hulu! Need a quick break and a pick-me-up? Wander over to Hulu to watch your favorite Christmas special, like the Peanuts. But remember, it’s back to the books once the movie’s over!

So when you’ve hit a bad case of writer’s block or find yourself reading the same sentence in a textbook over and over again, try these little tips to make your finals season more relaxing. Then, you can get to the most important season, Christmas!!

And, of course, there’s this little gem:
