Fall Trend: Lady Jackets

A fall trend I’m spotting seemingly everywhere – lady jackets. More polished than a sweater but more chic than a blazer, a lady jacket is a perfect fall transitional piece.

After seeing the Emilie all over Instagram, I decided to order it over the weekend. I’ve been in limbo with workwear for my closet since my shift to a mostly work-from-home situation. I do go into the office for big meetings so I still need professional pieces but not as many as I did when I was full-time in the office.

Getting dressed when I’m working from home is important to me and my productivity. First off, I would say about 9 out of 10 meetings I have are on-camera so I do need to look put-together. I would absolutely be lying if I said I never wore leggings – they’re just so difficult to resist! My most casual WFH outfit would be leggings with an oversized button-down and a colorful scarf. In my former role, I would regularly wear sheath dresses and blazers but I feel kind of silly wearing that to work in my home office. Although when we have big meetings and I’m speaking, I do break out those pieces to look my best and also to give myself a boost of confidence even when I’m just a talking head.

It’s definitely a balancing act of looking polished on Teams and being comfortable, especially on days with back-to-back meetings. Getting dressed in a proper outfit also certainly plays a role in my productivity. I feel more professional and although it’s just me (closely supervised by Riley) getting dressed helps me feel like I’m in a more normal work environment.

But while I’m rambling, you’re here to talk about lady jackets. I swear we’re almost there!

Lady Jackets for Fall

Lady jackets caught my eye because, like I said, it seems like they’ve been everywhere on Instagram ads. But as I’m looking to expand and build out my WFH wardrobe, lady jackets seem like a perfect way to circle the square of how to look chic in a meeting while still being comfortable. They appear more polished than sweaters but more ladylike and less structured than blazers. Plus, lady jackets are wonderful fall transitional pieces for your wardrobe.
