Sharing fall bedroom decor ideas and tips to make your bedroom an extra cozy space to relax and unwind for the season!
When we think about decorating for the fall season, the gears in our brains automatically start turning about our home’s exterior and creating an inviting look for your front steps, complete with pumpkins and mums. Or maybe an extra spooky haunted house atmosphere for trick-or-treaters. But what about the inside of the home?
And what about creating a cozy fall bedroom? I am very much guilty of neglecting this room in our house. We still need to work on painting our bedroom since we moved in back in May!
It’s silly how the room that can help us reset and relax after a long day always seem to fall to the bottom of the priorities list. Again, I’m very much guilty as charged on this. So today, I’m sharing a roundup of cozy fall bedroom decor ideas we can all use as inspiration!

12 Fall Bedroom Decor Ideas
Plaid Throw Blankets
Let’s start our list of bedroom decor ideas with the biggest piece of furniture in the room — the bed!
Layer the bed with a cozy plaid wool throw blanket in rich fall tones like navy and burgundy (a fall color that’s become a 2024 fall style trend). Plaid is timeless and feels right at home, I also love how it adds homespun-like textures to bed linens.
Monogrammed Bedding
Opt for crisp, white cotton sheets with delicate monogramming in fall-inspired thread colors like deep orange or olive green. This personal touch feels both preppy and classic.
Chinoiserie Pumpkin Accents
Add a grandmillennial twist to fall decor with small, chinoiserie-style ceramic pumpkins in blue and white. They bring in a coastal vibe while staying true to the traditional fall season.
Velvet Pillows
I love a good throw pillow, don’t you? Swap out summer linens for velvet pillows in jewel tones like emerald, navy, or burnt orange. Velvet brings a luxe, textured feel perfect for fall.
Classic Candles
Add warmth in the colder months by choosing candles with autumn scents like warm amber, cinnamon, or pumpkin. A nautical striped candleholder or a hurricane glass can keep a coastal aesthetic.
Tartan Bed Skirt
Add a tartan bed skirt for a touch of fall pattern! It also complements the clean lines of crisp bedding for a traditional design. Doesn’t this image remind you of the MacAllisters’ bedroom in Home Alone?
Botanical Prints in Vintage Frames
Swap out summer artwork for vintage botanical prints featuring autumnal foliage. Arrange them in classic gold or bamboo-style frames to keep a traditional look for a gallery wall.
Wicker Baskets for Storage
Incorporate woven wicker baskets for blanket storage at the foot of the bed. Wicker complements the coastal style while adding warmth for the fall season.
Heirloom Quilts
Layer the bed with heirloom-style quilts featuring timeless, intricate patterns. Whether draped across the foot of the bed or folded neatly, quilts bring in a cozy feeling.
Fall Florals in Vases
Arrange dried florals like hydrangeas, eucalyptus, or wheat stalks in ginger jars or rattan-wrapped vases. These natural touches bring in seasonal warmth while maintaining the classic vibe. If I were to only add one decor element to our bedroom, this would be it. Trader Joe’s has dried florals at very reasonable prices and while I’m normally very anti-fake florals, Michael’s faux eucalyptus stems pass the test.
Brass Candle Holders with Taper Candles
Add brass candle holders with elegant taper candles in autumn shades like rust, deep plum, or soft beige. The brass brings a grandmillennial, vintage charm, while the candles add a warm glow perfect for coastal evenings.
Seasonal Art
Swap out your summer prints for fall-inspired artwork, like landscapes with golden foliage or seascapes with deeper, stormy tones, to bring the rich colors of the season into the room.
How To Make Your Bedroom Cozy For Fall
Now that we have ALL the cozy fall bedroom ideas spinning in our heads, let’s chat about easy tips you can do right now to decorate your bedroom for fall!
Layer Your Bedding
For a cozy bed, transition your bedding from summer’s light linens to thicker, warmer fabrics. Add layers with quilts, flannel sheets, and plush throw blankets. Choose cozy materials like wool, velvet, and knits to add both warmth and texture.
Tip: Mix it up with patterns like plaid, tartan, or florals in autumnal colors to create a rich, seasonal look.
Add Fall Colors with Pillows and Throws
Swap out summer’s lighter hues for pillows and throws in warm fall tones like mustard, deep orange, or burgundy. This instantly adds a sense of relaxation to the space.
Tip: Use pillows in different textures, like velvet or wool, to create visual interest and a layered effect.
Incorporate Soft Lighting
Dim lighting makes any room feel instantly cozier. Incorporate table lamps with warm-toned bulbs, string fairy lights around bed frames (and keep them up for Christmas!), or place candles in brass or coastal-inspired holders to set a cozy mood.
Tip: Opt for scented candles in fall fragrances like cinnamon, amber, or woodsy pine to create a cozy fall atmosphere. Trader Joe’s Fall Scented Candle Trio is my favorite!
Switch to Seasonal Art
Update your wall art to reflect the season. Trade out summer scenes for coastal-inspired fall art, like seascapes with richer, moodier tones, or framed botanical prints featuring autumn leaves and foliage.
Tip: Use bamboo or vintage brass frames to maintain the classic grandmillennial vibe while embracing the season.
Bring Nature Indoors
Decorate with natural elements like dried eucalyptus, wheat stalks, or pampas grass in coastal vases or ginger jars. These subtle, earthy accents bring warmth to the room and evoke fall without feeling overly rustic.
Tip: Arrange florals in a wicker basket or vintage rattan vase to tie in coastal textures.
Incorporate Cozy Rugs
Swap your summer rugs for thicker, plush ones in wool or jute. A rug not only warms up the space but also adds texture and softness, making the room feel more inviting.
Tip: Layer a smaller patterned rug over a neutral base rug to add depth and keep things visually interesting.
Use Warm Metallic Accents
Incorporate warm metallics like brass or gold in your decor. Whether through picture frames, lamps, or candlesticks, metallic accents bring an elegant warmth that feels classic.
Tip: Look for vintage brass pieces at your local thrift shops. Sometimes it’s a bit of a hunt and takes patience but I’ve found fantastic pieces at Goodwill and Salvation Army!
Create a Cozy Reading Nook
Transform a corner of your bedroom into a cozy reading nook by adding an armchair or bench with a throw blanket and plush pillows. Place a small side table nearby for tea, candles, or a good book (check out my spooky reading list for recommendations!).
Tip: Incorporate a rattan chair or a tufted ottoman to keep the look classic and preppy, while staying comfortable.
Embrace Cozy Scents
Introduce fall scents through candles, diffusers, or essential oils. Scents like pumpkin spice, sandalwood, or apple cider evoke the essence of fall and add to the cozy, inviting feel of your bedroom.
Tip: Place scented sachets in your linen drawers to keep your bedding smelling fresh and seasonal.
Upgrade Your Bedside Table Decor
Update the accessories on your bedside table for fall. Add a small vase of dried florals, a stack of your favorite cozy reads, or a chic candle in a chinoiserie holder.
Tip: Mix in a brass or wicker tray to organize items and keep your space feeling tidy and luxurious.
