My Easter memories always revolved around vacation: whether we were in Florida lying on a beach or on a bi-plane in Sedona, Arizona. The most memorable Easter Mass would have to be in the Dominican Republic when a full set of bongo drums made an appearance in the church’s musical group. This year, I’m having more of a staycation but that’s okay, I have a plan : )
Decorations
Flowers: Last Sunday, I purchased potted hyacinth at Whole Foods because I adore the hyacinth’s aroma. Sadly, the hyacinth is already droopy despite my best efforts and constant love and positive words of encouragement. So this weekend, I might go back to my {tulips} from Trader Joe’s to be the centerpiece of my table again. While not as fragrant as hyacinth, tulips are Easter. Simple as that.
Garland: {Paper Source’s holiday kits are fool proof decorating for a party}. I’ll be honest, I’m not very crafty and I would rather spend my disposable income on clothes and meals. However, these kits are inexpensive and easy to make at the last minute for a touch of festivity.
Eats & Sips
Breakfast Menu: Hands down, my favorite part of breakfast is breakfast potatoes. Piled with ketchup, there is really nothing better. Potatoes will definitely be making an appearance on Sunday. I also want to make the French toast featured above, French toast with Nutella sounds like a win-win to me!
Libations: I love mimosas and bellinis for brunch but I was thinking of taking it in a different direction this Easter. What do you think about champagne with blood orange soda? Or San Pellegrino flavors? Add fresh fruit like raspberries or strawberries as garnish and it will be delicious and seasonal.
How are you planning to spend Easter Sunday? Besides church (of course).
