{DC Girl in Pearls: 1 Year Blog Birthday}

Today, my blog turns one year old!! I really cannot believe it’s been a year already and I think it’s absolutely fitting that my graduation and my blog’s birthday fall within a couple days of each other. This year has been a roller coaster for me but the one constant that always made me happy and smile (besides Diet Coke) was my blog and all of my lovely readers!!

Last May, I was at home for a month in between the end of school and the start of a summer internship. As a PR major, I was writing constantly but not always about topics that really interested me. I missed creative writing and decided to try my hand at blogging. It was pretty easy for me to come up with a title for my blog because I always wear my pearls! I began with the title and just started writing. It took me awhile to get into the swing of blogging and what I wanted to focus on but I think I’ve got a pretty good handle on it. I’m always looking for ways to improve my blog, writing included, and I love challenging myself to come up with fun topics.

Through my blog, I’ve had the opportunity to become connected to a wonderful network of bloggers and Twitter addicts that I otherwise would never have met. One of my favorite things is meeting new people so I’ve loved getting to know my readers and other Twitter personalities! Thank you to all my lovely readers, you seriously are the best!!!

Like I said, my blog is a constant source of happiness for me and I really cannot imagine my life without it. I’ve actually been looking to expand DC Girl in Pearls so stay tuned for more details! I’ll be counting on your feedback big time.

In the mean time, I’m writing blog posts & lots of cover letters as I aim to become a DC {Gainfully Employed} Girl in Pearls.

For my graduation on Saturday, I wore a Lilly Pulitzer Bowen in Hotty Pink with Jessica Simpson nude heels. I had an amazing weekend with my family, I cried when they left like a kindergartener on the first day of school!

This was taken at 7a.m. so I’m not fully awake yet!

And of course, I decorated my cap!

I’ve had a fabulous first year and cannot wait for the second year of DC Girl in Pearls/”The Real World”!!
