Weekend Warrior DIY: Gallery Wall on a Budget

Creating a gallery wall can be an extremely daunting task. Curating the prints + objects that go together, finding frames + then arranging the frames. But would you call me crazy if I told you you could create + hang a gallery wall by yourself without losing your sanity or all your money?

Let’s break down my bedroom gallery wall. Now, keep in mind, this is a work in progress but I thought I’d share it for you weekend warriors!

IKEA is my favorite source for inexpensive frames. Virtually all the frames in my apartment are from IKEA, no joke. I love the sleek NYTTJA frames for its simplicity, it really lets the print pop without distracting. And at $2 each, you can stock up for any future prints you pick up. Bonus, these frames look great if you spray paint them. Again, cannot emphasize the beauty of spray paint for decorating on a budget. To break up the frames, I used two small VIRSERUM frames also from IKEA. Would you believe me if I told you they were $5 each?! Telling you, you will never buy a frame from another store again. VIRSERUM frames look like a million bucks.

Prints can a bit pricey but if you look, you can find great deals. I picked up the three bigger prints from a favorite Etsy shop, Pearls + Pastries (because obviously) during one of the shop’s frequent sales, follow P+P on Instagram to get the sale 411!

Your gallery wall art doesn’t strictly have to be prints, the smaller pieces are actually technically greeting cards + the Kate Spade is the cute card they tuck into the package (read: free is for you and me). The Rifle Paper Co. oyster card with the pearl was too perfect to pass up and I loved the whimsical touch of a polite Frenchie, both cards came from Paper Source in Georgetown. I could probably create an entire gallery wall completely from the funny cards I find at that store!
