Tis the season for visitors! Typically of the last-minute variety. While it’s easy to pull out a bag of chips or caramel popcorn, that’s also an easy way to pack on those holiday lbs. Personally, with the holiday parties and cookies and cocktails, my clothes have been feeling a bit snug lately. No bueno.
I’ve long documented my love for Cava Mezze + Cava Grill on Instagram but did you know about Cava Foods? Yup, that’s right. You can pick up their spicy harissa, crazy feta, tzatziki along with a variety of hummus at Whole Foods in DC. And good news for you New York (City, that is) folks because Cava Foods is now in your neck of the woods. You lucky so-and-so.
My big motivations for this project: create snacks that are healthy, easy to make and no bake. Why no bake? Welp, my oven has been on the outs lately and I don’t trust it one bit. No worries though, this just means you’re one step closer to a delicious snack for you and your guests! And by guests, I mean Netflix. On your couch.
First up…Spicy Mediterranean Margherita “Pizza”
Ingredients
Pita bread
Cava Harissa
Tomatoes
Feta
Other veggies, make it your own!
Directions
Spread harissa on the pita + top with feta + veggies! That’s it! Super easy. If you do have a working oven that isn’t being a total diva, you can bake the pita for about 8 minutes on 425.
If you’re looking for more of a crunch in your snack…
Greek Nachos!! The beauty of this snack is you can add a bag of romaine lettuce to the leftovers and BAM, instant Greek salad for lunch tomorrow. See you never, #saddesklunch!
Ingredients
Pita Chips
Feta
Kalamata Olives
Tomatoes
Cucumbers
1 Harissa: 2 Tzatziki
Banana Peppers (optional)
Directions
Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl. In a separate bowl, combine the Harissa and Tzatziki and spoon on top of the “nachos.”
If you’re a Cava fan like myself, I’m working on a couple awesome New Year’s Resolution-friendly recipes using Cava Foods so check back in January for those dishes!
