Catching Up & Birthday Surprises

This week has been insane and it’s only Tuesday! I’m trying to get in the swing of final exams, I just have to survive 3 weeks (not that I’m counting or anything). I was really busy with family last week and didn’t have time to blog so I apologize. I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving with their friends, family and loved ones!

Last week, I became a contributing collegiate blogger for the fabulous D.C. Ladies blog!! I’m really excited & am currently working on my post for them so keep an eye out for that!

D.C. Ladies features great blog posts  from Beltway women with specialties in a variety of topics. I definitely encourage you to check out their site!

Also, I’m officially an old lady: today is my birthday and I’m now 22! I already received one surprise: I was in my apartment writing a paper and my roommate called me to tell me she was on campus with public safety and was going to the hospital. I immediately sprang into action and packed her an overnight bag and pretty much ran to campus (luckily, it was nice outside). Once I got to where she said she was, I was surprised to see her smiling and not with public safety officers. Then, I see our school’s male acappella group come waltzing into the student center. I’m pretty sure my jaw hit the floor and I know my face turned an embarrassing shade of red because I could feel it. They sat me down and serenaded me with a dramatic rendition of Enrique Iglesias’ “Hero” followed  by “Happy Birthday.” I blush very easily and I’m pretty sure I resembled a tomato from a combination of blushing and laughing so hard. She really floored me and I was still in shock after the fact. And to think I was worried she would make me wear a sombrero when we go out to dinner tonight! After being serenaded in public, wearing a sombrero looks like a cakewalk!

Have you ever received a big birthday surprise like this? Please share your stories, I’d love to hear them!!

Just being serenaded, no big deal. Nothing to see here, folks.
