{A Day at the Mall}

Last weekend, my family came into town for my graduation. Having gone to school in DC for four years, we’ve done pretty much all the touristy activities in the city. However, we decided to go to the Mall and just walk around.

My mother, aunts & I visited the Vietnam Wall. If you haven’t gone, I’d highly suggest you do. It’s a simple but incredibly powerful tribute. On the day we went, someone left a bronze star at the Wall and the park volunteer told us that there had been a new addition to the Wall that morning. Each May, they add names to the Wall of Vietnam veterans so that by Memorial Day, the Vietnam Wall is as accurate as possible.

After strolling by the monuments, we visited the Natural History Museum. I was never really into science (I was an English/history girl) but I love the Natural History Museum. They have an IMAX theater so my family went to a movie about coral reefs. The cinematography was stunning with the bright colors of the reefs and fish! It made me want to learn to SCUBA dive. My other favorite exhibit were the gemstones:

The Hope Diamond

I’ll have this gift wrapped, please!

After Natural History, we popped into my personal favorite: American History. No joke, if I did not care about making a salary I can live comfortably on, I would love to drive around the United States and research American history. It was my favorite subject in school and I tend to geek out about it.

Fun Fact: I’ve been to Disney World ten times
The First Ladies’ exhibit is one of my favorite parts! (Shocking)
Haunted history is a guilty pleasure, definitely adding this to my book list!

Have you been to the National Mall? What is your favorite monument or museum?
