Yesterday, I signed and completed my application for my first big girl place to move into in August. I love decorating so I am over the moon excited to get started! My mother is an avid HGTV watcher so needless to say, we’ve been planning my first place’s decor for years. Because I’m a freshly minted college grad and am in the throes of The Job Hunt, the ultimate trial of optimism as I like to call it, I am going on a budget. Remember the HGTV show “Design on a Dime?” Well, that’s me right now.
To start my decor journey, I sat down and created a Word doc of all my furniture and decor pieces for inspiration and more importantly, organization.
Years ago, I found some beautiful blue & white porcelain plates that I saved for my first place and they’ve become my staple inspiration piece. As of right now, I plan to hang them on my kitchen wall.

The furniture that I’m bringing into this apartment is mostly ivory so I think my color scheme is going to be blue, ivory, pink and mint green. I’ve decided not to paint the walls but I will be painting some of my furniture, it’ll be a lot of DIY so expect more posts as my apartment takes shape.
