Home for the Holidays!

Hi guys! After a whirlwind weekend in North Carolina, I’m back in DC until Wednesday night when I fly out to Arizona for Thanksgiving. I’ve been living in a maze of boxes for the last week with my upcoming move so I’ll admit, the holidays caught me really by surprise this year.

I’m excited to break in my new (and bigger!) apartment kitchen with plenty of holiday treats and cocktails! I might even get a little mini table tree to keep up the Christmas spirit while unpacking and swimming in bubble wrap. I’ve got a lot of really fun holiday ideas for the season and wanted to give you a little taste of what to expect here on DC Girl for the most wonderful time of the year! And I did a blog thing I’ve been wanting to do for months ☺️

Be sure to check out DC Girl weekly for all your holiday tips + tricks!

Holiday Party Attire Capsule Wardrobe

The holiday party attire capsule wardrobe (Now that’s a mouthful) is what I’m most excited about for the holiday season, blog-wise! Because let’s be real, the holiday season and end of the year can be tough on our wallets and budgets without shelling out more money for a different outfit for each holiday party. I’ve been building a holiday party capsule wardrobe using pieces you probably already have in your closet instead of telling you to buy this top and these pants. Sound good? Welll, here’s how you can get your hands on it before it hits the blog.

Here’s the backstory. I’ve wanted to create a newsletter for you guys for a long time. And after brainstorming several ideas and thinking what would be most helpful for you and won’t be just another email in your inbox, I came up with an idea. I’ll be launching my newsletter later this week, it’ll hit inboxes on Wednesday evening (Thursday evenings after then) and will be called Weekend Plans. So what’s in it? I’ll be sharing an outfit idea, suggesting a simple recipe to try out, a book to read, a sale to shop, a cocktail to master, and more. Hence the name, Weekend Plans. For those of you who sign up for the newsletter, I’ll be sending you an email with my holiday party capsule wardrobe so you can get a jumpstart on your holiday party looks!

You can sign up for the newsletter at my sidebar right at the top!

Easy and Festive Cocktails + Appetizers

I know you don’t have a lot of time on your hands during the holiday season. Same. And with my upcoming move, I’m definitely going to be opting for simple appetizers that come together quickly without a big mess to clean up after (like my candied walnut tartines) and cocktails that can be made in a big batch to please the crowd. And I’ll be sharing my Trader Joe’s grocery list for when I’m hosting!

How to Decorate Your Home for the Holidays

Decorating for the holidays can be a challenge, especially when you’re renting an apartment. I’ll be sharing my no-fuss tips to spread holiday cheer into even the smallest of homes – including DIY ways to deck out a wreath from the store!

Unique + Special Gifts for the Most Difficult on Your List

In the age of gift cards, it can be all too easy to purchase a gift card and cross that off your list. My goal for gift guides this year is to find unique gifts that will be perfect for the even most difficult-to-buy-for on your list. I’ll also be creating gift guides for stocking stuffers and gifts that are under $25 and $50 and highlighting small businesses that I love!
