It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a beauty update and with you and I’ll be honest, my beauty routine has remained largely unchanged since I first started wearing in high school. I wore it for about a week in sophomore year and then realized I went to a girls school and I didn’t care about impressing anyone with my (beginner) eyeliner skills and stopped. I really only started wearing makeup with any regularity in college but I kept to my beauty roots: Eyeliner, foundation, concealer, mascara and out the door. Back then, my “lipstick” was lip balm. Flash forward to having to be professional and I’ve kissed my lip balm only days goodbye so to speak. Nowadays, I don’t feel like my makeup is complete without a lipstick.
Like I said, I keep my beauty routine pretty simple so I like having a colorful lip to balance it out and keep me from looking washed out. My approach to beauty is the same approach to my wardrobe: Classic pieces with some color to keep things fresh and youthful. Oh god, I worry that ship has sailed when I start tossing words like “youthful” around. Just keep off my lawn and we’ll be cool.
I’ve rounded up my favorite pink lipsticks for spring and good news for us budget-conscious girls: The most expensive lipstick in this post is going to cost you $24. From Sephora to Walgreens, these are the best pink lipsticks for spring to bring a cheerful lip from the office to a patio happy hour and brunch! Let’s dive in:
Sara Happ The Ballet Slip: I received this as a gift from a friend and it’s become my favorite casual weekend lipstick. It’s just so easy to brush on and toss into your purse as you head out the door. It is a bit shiny since it’s a gloss but I still love it and it stays reasonably well.
Revlon Ultra HD Peony ($6): This lipstick was a total drugstore impulse purchase buy. I had just landed in Chicago for my friend’s wedding last summer and headed into a CVS to pick up a few toiletries. Well, who can say no to a colorful peony hue? I love this lipstick for work because it’s bright without being too much. Nothing jazzes up a navy blazer like a pink lipstick!
IT Cosmetics Blurred Lines Naturally Pretty ($24): I’m a big fan of IT Cosmetics products, they’re such high-quality and earn bonus points for being cruelty-free. This is a deeper hue than the other pink lipsticks for spring but it’s perfect for a work meeting or presentation. It’s a gorgeous color that looks polished and professional. I typically wear this lipstick every other day.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick Party Pink ($20): I don’t like to play favorites but if I had to pick an all-around favorite pink lipstick, it’d be the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick line. I had a Sephora gift card from Christmas that I really needed to use so I did a little Googling on best products at Sephora. Whenever I have a gift card somewhere, I want to make sure I’m getting the most bang for my (gifted) buck. After some Internet sleuthing, I learned about Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick and decided to give it a whirl. I was torn between Party Pink and Rio and ended up going with Party Pink. Don’t worry, the color is much more subdued on than in the picture and it has a lovely matte finish. Plus, this lipstick will survive an apocalypse. You could wear it virtually all day on Saturday from brunch to going out with friends and it will stay in place with minimal touch up. And it’s only $20!! Seriously, convert now and thank me later.
Maybelline Pink & Proper ($6): Yet another impulse drugstore purchase. I swear, I go in for 2 things and come out with 6, how?? I keep this lipstick in my weekend bag because it goes on smoothly and will last you most of the day. I’ve received a few compliments from this color – it’s feminine and classic, it doesn’t get better than that!
I hope you have a lovely weekend! I have BIG Friday night plans. I’m going to spin class, then getting a pedicure so I can break out my Jacks and then climbing into bed with a book. What can I say? I’m a wild child…
P.S. I cannot stop listening to Modern Jukebox’s cover of “Closer.” I know, I know, it’s another cover of Closer but trust me. It’s a-m-a-z-i-n-g!! Have a wonderful weekend!
