I don’t always drink Maker’s.
But when I do, it’s usually mixed with strawberry simple syrup.
Because I’m a complete wuss when it comes to bourbon.
Things I will never be: A Broadway star with a powerhouse voice, an astrophysicist, or someone who can drink bourbon neat. If you’re any of the above, I salute you and your exceptional talent.
As for me? I’m over here, sipping on a sweet cocktail and mentally plotting ways to add Prosecco to as many cocktails as I can.
Oh, and world domination because why not?
But the strawberry balsamic bourbon smash brings just the right amount of sweet to this cocktail without being too cavity-inducing sugary sweet for you bourbon drinkers out there.
So let’s grab the Maker’s and get this party going! I didn’t realize until I loaded the photos to my site that we’ve got a nice little red color scheme going with the strawberries + wax seal. Gotta love when the color gods smile down on us.
First things first, muddle strawberries in a cocktail shaker. If you don’t have a fancy schmancy muddler, you can do what I do and use the back of a spoon. Be the MacGyer of cocktails! Next, add in your strawberry simple syrup. Remember how crazy easy it was to make for New Year’s?! Finally, top off with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and bourbon. Shake ‘n strain, rock ‘n roll. You’ve got yourself a strawberry balsamic bourbon smash.
And I just realized, you could totally add a Prosecco floater to make this a strawberry balsamic bourbon smash fizz.
This is why you don’t have to worry about me taking over the world.

1/2 oz balsamic vinegar
2 oz bourbon
