A couple of weeks ago, I ventured to Lynchburg for the J.Crew warehouse sale. It was an early morning (read: 3am wake up call) and one would think that’d mean I’d go to bed at a reasonable hour to wake up fresh as a daisy. Well, one would be wrong.
My dear friend Kendall who had the nerve to move to California because of a fabulous job came into town to run the Marine Corp. Marathon, a concept I have yet to fully grasp. We hadn’t seen each other in a year so naturally we had to meet at Cactus Cantina, our favorite college haunt, to gab over swirl margarita pitchers. It was like gchat but you know, real! We couldn’t break up the lovefest so we decided to hang out at my apartment. All too soon, it was midnight and neither of us could keep our eyes open.
So on about 3 hours’ worth of sleep, I pulled on leggings + warm layers and tried to mask my bleary-eyes with some semblance of eyeliner. And I was off to Lynchburg!
My friends and I arrived at the warehouse around 7 am and were inside by 8. Inside the warehouse are boxes and boxes and boxes of clothes to dig through. And when I say dig, I mean dig. The first couple of boxes produced nothing in my size or style so I felt a twinge disheartened, not going to lie. I questioned if it was worth it and fantasized about climbing back into bed and hitting snooze. Then, I spied this J.Crew tuxedo shirt and that’s how I got my groove back.
Since the warehouse sale, I have reached for this beauty more times than I care to share. I wore the tuxedo shirt with leggings, which I have to cuff because #shortgirlproblems, and flats for a weekend romping around the city. Switch the leggings to my favorite pleated mini and add tights and riding boots for a casual Friday work look. Or if you need a more sophisticated 9-5 outfit, tuck the shirt into a pencil skirt with chunky heels, perhaps of the leopard persuasion? The sky’s the limit and I’ll keep you posted on my new favorite top stylings.

Great find! I am surprised the sale was not organized better. The Lilly Pulitzer sale in PA is always sorted by size.
Do you think the sale was worth the travel? Also, how does one find out about the sale? I did not know they had one!
Love this outfit!! The shirt is beautiful, and the necklace compliments so well.
You look so fabulous! Such a great look.
