Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to have a playdate with doughnuts. Yup, you heard that right. I visited District Doughnut‘s new digs on Barracks Row and it immediately turned a rainy Saturday right around. Doughnuts are all-powerful, you know. You just can’t help but smile when you see a doughnut. Science.
Side note: do you prefer doughnut or donut? I know it’s officially doughnut but the word donut just looks so cute!! Yes, words can look cute. I swear.
The awesome crew at District Doughnut were hard at work that day filling wedding favors with mini Brown Butter and Dulce de Leche doughnuts. Fair warning: mini doughnuts are dangerous because they are just too too easy to pop into your mouth. The Dulce de Leche was the perfect blend of sweet and salty with a rich filling. But my favorite were the Brown Butters, hands down. I like it simple + sweet and these babies really delivered. I can’t stop thinking about them. I’m like a schoolgirl with a crush. Need proof? Just check out my #doughface here:
Additional evidence of my Brown Butter crush. Lauren + Brown Butter Dougnuts = True Luv 4 Eva.

District Doughnut also offers coffee for you java fiends. You’ll have to share how it is (I’m one of the 3% of humanity who doesn’t drink coffee)!
OMG! In case I wasn’t already head over heels for District Doughnut, Christine, pastry chef + doughnut extraordinaire, grew up in WNY like me. Desserts + chatting about Buffalove are two of my favorite things. Combining them was the glaze on the doughnut.
District Doughnut is currently open on Fridays in August and will open its doors full time on September 12th. I just know it’s going to be a big hit so DC cupcakes better watch their backs!
Okay, I’m going to stop talking and let you scroll through the doughnut food porn. To see the photos that didn’t make it onto the blog and continue the doughnut love, visit my Facebook page here.

Those look heavenly! I visit DC a lot since my boyfriend lives in that area, and you have given me ideas of so many new places to try!
