Yesterday morning, I decided to make Thursday a food truck lunch day and I was mostly motivated by the fact that I had completely forgotten to pack a lunch the night before. Then, at work, I saw the tweet that brightened my morning:
I’ve been dying to try Big Cheese‘s “Thrilled Cheese” for the longest time but it’s always been just out of reach. Until yesterday afternoon! I had heard good things about Big Cheese but naturally, I had to taste it for myself.
At lunch time, I walked to 20th & L to get my grilled cheese on, food truck style. To be fair, I did look at the menu options once before I ordered my “Thrilled Cheese” but that sandwich had my name & a blog post written all over it. At this point, you may be wondering what exactly is in a “Thrilled Cheese.”
The “Thrilled Cheese” is chipotle cheddar, jalapenos & guacamole on sourdough.
Or, in other words, heaven. I took one bite & it was an explosion of taste!! You might think I’m being dramatic but no, this sandwich was out of this world good!!! In fact, I was so inspired, I tweeted about it:

This grilled cheese was just the right amount of spicy and I enjoyed a nice cup of tomato soup with it! After all, what’s the point of having a grilled cheese sandwich if you can’t dip it into tomato soup? I paid $9.50 for this lunch.
I know it sounds cheesy (pun!) but I got a thrill (2 puns in 1 sentence!) that my lunch came in a brown bag. It reminded me of elementary school lunch & nostalgia, clearly it’s comfort food at its finest if it had me thinking about my elementary school days.
There are 3 mini pickles in the plastic baggie, which I promptly ate after snapping this photo.
Then, I started in on my “Thrilled Cheese”:
This grilled cheese was packed with a delicious guacamole & every so often, a crunchy jalapeno! Each bite was better than the one before it. Long story short, I think I have a new favorite food truck. Oh, and I’m no longer able to eat just regular grilled cheese ever again. This is definitely the best food truck lunch I’ve had so far! Just ask any of my friends who were on gchat yesterday during lunch time. They certainly got an earful about my mouthful!

How sad is it that I’ve lived in NoVa for almost 13 years and have never eaten at a food truck? I’ve had a random hot dog here and there but that’s about it. That sandwich looked yummy!!
