I just couldn’t resist the pun!
It’s no secret that I love Trader Joe’s. Being on a budget in a city can get tricky but I’ve found that Trader Joe’s is the place to pull together a great meal for a great price. While I go there often for fresh produce, I really go to town when my parents come to visit. In order to get to Trader Joe’s, I have to take the bus and it can get tricky carrying so many bags with heavy items. When my parents are in town, they drive so I have the luxury of driving to the grocery store (yes, I now view it as a luxury).
These are the items I stock in my cabinets because they last for a long time and are great lunch/dinner ideas when you come home exhausted or don’t want to make an elaborate meal:
Spinach & Chive Linguine | Organic Tomato & Roasted Red Pepper Soup | Tomato & Basil Marinara Sauce | Quinoa | Turkey Chili with Beans
I am slightly obsessed with the tomato & roasted red pepper soup because it’s quick to heat up and low in calories. I like to toss in some basil and red pepper flakes with a couple of crackers and voila, dinner is served! What’s not to like?
My other big time go to item is their Turkey Chili: this is great to bring to work when you’re lying in bed about to fall asleep and then remember you didn’t pack a lunch. I love tossing in a spoonful of Trader Joe’s Corn & Chile Tomato-less Salsa and a couple generous shakes of hot sauce. It takes less than a minute to prepare and is ready to heat up the next day.
